Norbert Rillieux - Black Thoughts Today

I started my career in education as a high school Science teacher. My father was a History teacher, so I was always exposed to African American history in this country and around the world. As an African American male teacher, I understood that I was a role model to many of my students, so I made sure that I listen to my students to understand their point of view, but as their teacher, I knew my responsibility was too exposed them to the larger world. In recent years one of my former students said to me "You were a Black male Science teacher. I never had a teacher like you before. I had to know where did you come from." I come from a long line of African American scientist who has shaped this country and world. I want African American children to understand the contribution their forefathers made to the foundation of this country. For February, my company TEACH IT has produced a video series "What would the world be like without Black Inventors." Please share the videos with your children, friends, family and professional groups. Thank you for your support.
